Why Can’t I Just Cover Up the Smell?
It may be tempting to use a spray or odor neutralizer to mask the smell of a grow room from the neighbors. Unfortunately, this process is not only much less effective than a carbon scrubber but also will reduce the quality of the plant. Once the cannabis plant begins letting off an odor, the scent will only continue to grow stronger until harvest. Products like Ona Gel and other neutralizers have potent fragrances that attempt to cover up other odors. However, they do not provide an effective long term solution for the cannabis scent because they aren’t strong enough to neutralize the smell of large grow rooms and processing facilities. Additionally, these sprays and gels bind with the buds, altering the plant at the time of harvest and can reduce quality of processed products. Any grower who makes the mistake of keeping an odor neutralizer near their plants will alter the flavor of their buds.
Air purifiers are an option for casual growers with a few plants, but they are not appropriate for large greenhouses. Air purifiers are intended to dissipate odors by filtering the air. Unlike a carbon scrubber, they are not powerful enough to draw all odors out of a larger grow room. We recommend any serious grower that wants to rid the scent of their plants while maintaining their natural flavor uses a carbon scrubbing system for odor control.
